Ricardo A. Ferrera, 30, was sentenced last week, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

Ferrera still faces more serious charges including first-degree attempted homicide in an open indictment in an unrelated shooting, according to a source familiar with the case.

Ferrera was accused of lying to police when he helped his girlfriend, the child’s mother, take the unconscious girl to the hospital.

The girl's now 24-year-old mother, Elinette S. Muniz, of Millville, was sentenced to five years in state prison on June 24, 2022, on an aggravated assault charge in the February 2021 incident that left the girl fighting for her life on a ventilator, NJ Advance Media previously reported.

Ferrera apparently told investigators the girl fell from a bunk bed and that injuries to her head and body were the result of seizures that caused her to fall, the outlet said.

Ferrera is scheduled to face trial in July on the unrelated shooting that occurred in January 2022. Ferrera is accused of firing at two women in a vehicle in Vineland.
